Student Ticket Policy

Complimentary Tickets for Music Students

Bienen School of Music students are eligible to receive 1 (one) complimentary ticket for all Bienen School of Music events, including:

  • Bienen School of Music ensemble concerts
  • Bienen School of Music operas
  • Public-ticketed master classes
  • Faculty recitals
  • Guest Artists and Series**

For events with more than one performance (i.e., operas), music students may receive one complimentary ticket per the entire run, not per performance.

**At the discretion of the Concert Management Office, comps to certain pre-determined guest artist concerts may be limited to students of a specific instrument/discipline.

Complimentary Tickets for Performers

Student performers in any student ensemble concert or faculty recital are entitled to 2 (two) complimentary tickets.

Student soloists or student composers whose work is being performed in any student ensemble concert, faculty recital, or master class are entitled to 6 (six) complimentary tickets.

Opera cast members are entitled to a fixed number of complimentary tickets for the run of the opera—NOT for each performance—depending on the hall in which the opera takes place. See below for a quarterly breakdown:

  • Ryan Opera Theater: 4 complimentary tickets for the run
  • Cahn Auditorium: 6 complimentary tickets for the run

It is the responsibility of the opera production manager to provide a list of cast members to Maxwell Johnson, Ticketing Manager, before any tickets are distributed.

Obtaining Your Complimentary Tickets

Students MUST claim comps in person—no online or over-the-phone sales are allowed.

Your complimentary tickets can be requested in person at the Concerts@Bienen Box Office at Pick-Staiger or in the lobby of the performance venue prior to the performance with a valid Wildcard. However, we STRONGLY encourage you to request your tickets in advance in order to reduce lines and ensure that performances will start promptly.

The Concerts@Bienen Box Office is open Monday through Friday from 10 am to 6 pm, and Saturday from 12 pm to 3 pm.

No student will be admitted to any ticketed performance without a valid ticket.

In the event of a sold-out performance, any comp tickets may be released and resold if they have not been claimed from will call by the performance’s start time.
