The Act III Suite from Richard Wagner’s opera Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg—consisting of the Prelude to Act III, the “Dance of the Apprentices,” and the Act III Finale—has become a part of the standard orchestral repertory.
In her final concert as Northwestern Director of Bands, Mallory Thompson conducts the Symphonic Wind Ensemble in J.S. Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, BWV 565, transcribed by Donald Hunsberger.
Bienen faculty hornist Gail Williams is featured in this performance of Sure-fire by Catherine Likhuta. Shawn Vondran conducts the Symphonic Band.

Dustin Nguyen, winner of the Bienen School’s Concerto Competition, performs Launy Grøndahl’s Concerto for Trombone, arranged by Poul Ivan Møller. Doctoral assistant conductor Sheldon Frazier leads the Symphonic Wind Ensemble.
