Tenor Norman Reinhardt has been appointed artist-in-residence of voice at the Northwestern University Bienen School of Music, effective September 1, 2024.
Reinhardt is one of the world’s leading operatic artists. During the 2023-24 season he made his debuts in Shenzhen, China as Don Jose in Carmen in collaboration with the Shenzhen Opera and Dance Theater and the Staatsoper Hamburg, followed by his debut in London at the English National Opera as Tamino in Mozart’s The Magic Flute. Later this year he will sing Pollione in Bellini’s Norma at Opéra National du Rhin in Strasbourg and make his debut at Northern Ireland Opera in Belfast as Lensky in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin. In previous seasons, he has appeared at the Salzburg Festival, Theater an der Wien, Teatro Real, Semperoper Dresden, Berlin State Opera, Paris Champs Elysees, Festival Baden Baden, Houston Grand Opera, Hamburg State Opera, and many others.
In addition to his extensive career as a soloist, Reinhardt is also co-founder of Living Opera, a multimedia startup in the opera and classical music space aimed at producing materials to educate and empower artists in every part of their careers. Reinhardt studied at Asbury College and the University of Kentucky, and his training culminated as a studio artist of the prestigious Houston Grand Opera.
