An exceptional classical guitarist, Grammy Award winner David Russell enjoys an impressive international concert and recording career. The Washington Post has praised him for a “musical imagination that stretched far beyond the limitations of the six strings.” Named a fellow of the London Royal Academy of Music in 1997, he has performed in the major concert venues of North and South America, Asia, Australia, and Europe. Russell’s recordings include discs for GHA and Telarc and the complete works of Francisco Tárrega on Opera Tres. His album Aire Latino won a 2004 Grammy for best classical instrumental solo.

Located in the Ryan Center for the Musical Arts, this 400-seat hall features a 40-foot glass wall offering views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline. Undulating walls of Forest Stewardship Council–certified wood, covered with a thin layer of African moabi wood, provide optimal acoustics, and the hall is equipped with state-of-the-art sound and video equipment for recording.
