Kennedy Center Concert 2016

Four Bienen School of Music students performed in a special concert at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as part of the Kennedy Center’s Conservatory Project, a semi-annual showcase of the best young musical artists from the nation’s leading colleges, universities, and conservatories. This marked the 12th consecutive year that students from the Bienen School have participated in the Conservatory Project.

PROGRAM

Soprano Madison Leonard, a second-year master of music student of Bienen School faculty member Karen Brunssen, performs Massenet’s “Je suis encore tout étourdie,” Schumann’s “Stille Tränen,” H.T. Burleigh’s “Worth While” and Puccini’s “Morire?”

Violinist Dmitri Pogorelov, a doctor of musical arts degree candidate studying with Gerardo Ribeiro, performs Wolfgang Marschner’s Sonata for Solo Violin and Ravel’s “Tzigane” (“Rapsodie de Concert”).

Cellist Riana Anthony, a first-year master of music student of Hans Jørgen Jensen, performs Debussy’s Sonata for Cello and Piano.

Pianist Dong-Wan Ha, a doctor of musical arts degree candidate studying with Alan Chow, performs works by Liszt -- Consolation No. 3 in D-flat Major, S. 172 and “Paraphrase de concert sur Rigoletto,” S. 434.
