Program Requirements

Master of Music: Bass Trombone

Prescreening required; must be video recording. Video should be shot from left side so mouthpiece is clearly visible.

Prescreening and audition unaccompanied.

February 9-10, 17

Fall 2024 Audition Formats:

All applicants whose program requires an audition are asked to audition on campus. Virtual auditions will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Applicants should wait to receive their prescreening results before contacting the Office of Music Admission about virtual audition options.

For Prescreening and Final Audition:

All repertoire required. No substitutions.

Solo Selections:

  • Spillman, Concerto, first movement

  • Bach, Sarabande (no repeats)

Orchestral Excerpts:

  • Berlioz, The Damnation of Faust  "Hungarian March"  

  • Haydn, The Creation

  • Mahler, Symphony No. 7, first movement

  • Wagner, Die Walküre "Ride of the Valkyries," B Maj. section

  • Wagner, Das Rheingold

  • Rossini, Overture to William Tell 

  • Kodály, Háry János
