The Bienen School’s Galvin Cello Quartet has advanced to the semi-finals of the Concert Artists Guild’s 2022 Victor Elmaleh Competition. The annual competition is open to outstanding young instrumental soloists and ensembles of any nationality who do not currently have North American management representation.

The finals of the competition will be streamed live May 25 and 26 on the Violin Channel website

Grand prize winners will receive international management in the Americas and Europe jointly with the Concert Artists Guild and the Young Classical Artists Trust. Winners also receive performance opportunities at both Merkin Concert Hall in New York and Wigmore Hall in London.

Galvin Cello Quartet members are doctoral student Sihao He ’18 MMus, master’s students Sydney Lee and Luiz Fernando Venturelli ’21, and bachelor’s student Haddon Kay. They are coached by Professor Hans Jørgen Jensen and Camden Shaw of the Dover Quartet, Bienen School Quartet-in-Residence. 

The quartet previously won the silver medal in the 48th Annual Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, senior strings division.
