Students from two Bienen School ensembles – the Bienen Contemporary/Early Vocal Ensemble and Contemporary Music Ensemble – will perform Steve Reich’s Proverb in an upcoming MusicNOW concert commemorating the composer’s 80th birthday.

The concert will take place Monday, November 21, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in Harris Theater, 205 E. Randolph Street, Chicago. Alan Pierson, Bienen School lecturer, will conduct the all-Reich program, which also includes Different Trains and Double Sextet, performed by musicians from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Steve Reich received the Bienen School of Music’s 2016 Michael Ludwig Nemmers Prize in Music Composition. He will be in residence at the Bienen School February 8-9, 2017 to work with Bienen student ensembles and composers and attend a concert of his music on February 9.
