Pick-Staiger Concert Hall
Robin Scott and Janet Ying, violin; Phillip Ying, viola; David Ying, cello
Praised for their “ideal blend of expressive poise and tonal refinement” (Chicago Classical Review), the Grammy Award-winning Ying Quartet has over 30 years of experience in giving meaningful performances in a variety of settings—from major concert halls to schools, workplaces, and prisons. Through its ongoing LifeMusic commissioning project, the quartet has built an impressive body of work by such composers as Billy Childs, Lera Auerbach, Lowell Liebermann, Sebastian Currier, and John Novacek. Highlights of the quartet’s discography include American Anthem, featuring selections by Barber, Thompson, and Hanson; the Grammy-nominated Tchaikovsky quartets and the composer’s Souvenir de Florence; and a Schumann/Beethoven collaboration with cellist Zuill Bailey. The group is quartet-in-residence at the Eastman School of Music and ensemble-in-residence at the Bowdoin International Music Festival.
Single tickets are $40 for the general public and $15 for students with valid ID.
