Pick-Staiger Concert Hall

Robert Taylor, conductor; Shruti Ramani, vocalist

Director of Bands Robert Taylor’s inaugural concert honors past traditions and explores future intentions. This eclectic program explores connections to Bach, Hildegard of Bingen, and Gustav Holst; considers themes of feminism, divination, and mysticism; and celebrates a very special wildcat. Innovative emerging vocalist, composer, and educator Shruti Ramani joins the Symphonic Wind Ensemble in Lindsay Bronnenkant’s stunning Tarot, a confluence of Indian raga, jazz, and contemporary concert music. With tributes paying homage to common practice foundations through uncommon contemporary lenses, the concert is a fitting springboard into a new season and chapter for the Northwestern bands!

Kevin Puts (trans. M. Spede), Millennium Canons
Ingrid Stölzel, Music Ignota
Gustav Holst, Hammersmith
Lindsay Bronnenkant, Tarot
Adam Schoenberg, Cool Cat
