Sylvia Wang has presented solo and collaborative performances throughout the world and recorded for the Newport Classic, Boston Records, Northeastern, and CRI labels. She has been a winner and finalist in competitions including London’s Royal Overseas League Festival, an Avanti Award leading to a debut in London’s Purcell Room, the Yellow Springs Chamber Music Competition, and the J. S. Bach International Piano Competition. Together with Bienen faculty violinist Desirée Ruhstrat and guest pianist Michael Boyd, she presents a program including Johannes Brahms’s Three Intermezzi, Op. 117, his Sonata in F Minor for Two Pianos, Op. 34b, and his Sonatensatz for Violin and Piano, as well as Lowell Liebermann’s Four Etudes on Songs of Brahms, Op. 88.

Located in the Ryan Center for the Musical Arts, this 400-seat hall features a 40-foot glass wall offering views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline. Undulating walls of Forest Stewardship Council–certified wood, covered with a thin layer of African moabi wood, provide optimal acoustics, and the hall is equipped with state-of-the-art sound and video equipment for recording.
