Pianist, composer, and bandleader Chick Corea was a prominent figure in the jazz fusion movement, collaborating with such artists as Miles Davis, Stanley Clarke, and Dave Holland in pursuit of a new sound that brought elements of rock to the genre. Over the course of his career, Corea won 27 Grammy Awards, and many of his compositions, including “Spain,” “500 Miles High,” “La Fiesta,” “Armando’s Rhumba,” and “Windows” have become jazz standards. Join the Northwestern University Jazz Orchestra for a celebration of this influential artist, featuring Ghanaian guest pianist Victor Dey, Jr. Dey has performed with artists including Stevie Wonder, Hugh Masekela, Mike Phillips, and Ebo Taylor.

Located in the Ryan Center for the Musical Arts, this 400-seat hall features a 40-foot glass wall offering views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline. Undulating walls of Forest Stewardship Council–certified wood, covered with a thin layer of African moabi wood, provide optimal acoustics, and the hall is equipped with state-of-the-art sound and video equipment for recording.
