McClintock Choral and Recital Room

Hailed as a “multitasking virtuoso” by The New Yorker’s Alex Ross, composer and violinist Modney is one of today’s foremost interpreters of contemporary music. His 2024 recording Ascending Primes features appearances by other contemporary music luminaries including Anna Webber, Nate Wooley, Charmaine Lee, Ben LaMar Gay, and Cory Smythe, and was praised by Peter Margasak for Bandcamp Daily as “a detail-packed endeavor that’s as wondrous as it is demanding.” A recipient of awards from The Shifting Foundation and Millay Arts, Modney is the violinist and executive director of the Wet Ink Ensemble and a member of the International Contemporary Ensemble. In this special performance, Modney will give the world premieres of compositions by Bienen students Wan Heo, Carlos Zarate, Tanner Carlson-Huber, Wookhyun Kwon, and Jack Hamill.
