Friday, December 1, 2023 at 7:30pm CST
Galvin Recital Hall
Andrew Megill, conductor; Charles Foster, collaborative piano
Experience the language of “amour” through a program weaving together masterpieces of French love songs with readings from The Art of Courtly Love, a 12th-century treatise by Andreas Capellanus. The music for this concert ranges from intricate and haunting songs of the medieval troubadours, to the sometimes bawdy, sometimes poignant love songs of the Renaissance, to the elegant and witty chansons of the French Impressionist era. Featured composers include Dufay, Josquin, Lassus, Saint-Saëns, Debussy, and Poulenc.
