Program Requirements

Master of Music: Double Bass

Prescreening required; must be video format.

Prescreening and audition unaccompanied. If possible, prescreening repertoire should be separated into different video files. It is also acceptable to upload a single video file that contains all required prescreening repertoire. Please see the Graduate Application for more information. 

Fall 2025 Audition Dates:

February 11 & 12

For Prescreening:

  • Two contrasting solo pieces

  • Orchestral excerpts: 
    • Mozart, Symphony No. 35, 1st movement: measures 13-48
    • Beethoven, Symphony No. 5: Scherzo and Trio
    • Strauss, Ein Heldenleben: #9-end at 6 measures after #12

For Final Audition:

  • Two contrasting solo pieces
  • One movement from J.S. Bach, Suites for Violoncello
  • All of the following orchestral excerpts: 
    • Mozart, Symphony No. 35, 1st movement: measures 13-48
    • Beethoven, Symphony No. 5: Scherzo and Trio
    • Strauss, Ein Heldenleben: #9-end at 6 measures after #12
    • Brahms, Symphony No. 2, 1st movement: letters E-F
