Music Theory and Cognition

Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music requests applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Theory and Cognition. Full-time, non-tenure eligible. Position begins September 1, 2021.

Description

Teaching, research, and service activities consistent with those of a large school of music within a research university. Teach upper level undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in music theory as well as other courses and seminars in the applicant’s area(s) of expertise and scholarly interest(s).

Qualifications

Required

  • Doctoral degree in Music Theory
  • Record of research activity through publications and/or national/international presentations
  • Experience and demonstrated effectiveness in teaching music theory at the university level

Preferred Requirements

  • Expertise in 19th- and/or 20th-century repertoires.
