Hailing from Japan, Shin-ichi Fukuda has been awarded many important competition prizes, including first prize in the 23rd Paris International Guitar Competition, organized by Radio France. Since then, he has pursued a brilliant career as a leading guitarist, performing solo recitals, concertos, and chamber music in major cities around the world. Fukuda is a highly gifted and enthusiastic teacher having trained many pupils who have gone on to gain the highest honors- including the young Japanese guitarists, Kaori Muraji, Daisuke Suzuki, and Yasuji Ohagi.

Located in the Ryan Center for the Musical Arts, this 400-seat hall features a 40-foot glass wall offering views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline. Undulating walls of Forest Stewardship Council–certified wood, covered with a thin layer of African moabi wood, provide optimal acoustics, and the hall is equipped with state-of-the-art sound and video equipment for recording.
