Bass Trombonist Randall Hawes joined the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in 1985 and retired in 2020. He has recorded with music directors Gűnther Herbig, Neeme Järvi and Leonard Slatkin. In 1995 Hawes was invited by Sir Georg Solti to join the World Orchestra for Peace, with which he has participated in tours and recordings with Solti’s successor, Valery Gergiev. He has appeared at the Grand Teton Music Festival and the Saito-Kinen festival in Japan. Hawes has produced two solo cd’s (Melodrama and Barn Burner) with pianist Kathryn Goodson.
