Background

Christopher P. Davis is formerly the bass trombone fellow of the New World Symphony Orchestra and Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Christopher has performed regularly with the Cincinnati, Chicago, Cleveland, Colorado, Detroit, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, and St. Paul Chamber Orchestras. He also can be heard on recordings with The Buffalo Philharmonic, Minnesota Orchestra, and Elgin Symphony Orchestra. Commercially, Mr. Davis can be heard on saxophonist Greg Ward’s Touch My Beloved’s Thought and bassist Matt Ulery’s Festival with his band Loom/Large.

Mr. Davis has won the Evanston Music Club Solo Competition, Union League Civic and Arts Foundation Classical Music Scholarship, Minnesota Orchestra Zellmer Orchestral Trombone Competition, and the Alessi Seminar Solo Competition. He is also one of the founding members of the CT3 Trombone Quartet which won the International Trombone Association’s Quartet Competition.  Mr. Davis is in his 2nd year as the Director of the Northwestern University Trombone Choir that recently won the 2017 Emory Remington Trombone Choir Competition.

Christopher has presented masterclasses and recitals nationally and internationally at the Isla Verde Bronces Brass Festival (Argentina), Texas State University, Western Carolina University, Eastern Illinois University, Snow College, and Illinois Wesleyan University. He received his BM from Illinois Wesleyan University and his MM from Northwestern University where he studied with Dr. Thomas Streeter, Michael Mulcahy, Charles Vernon, and Randall Hawes. Christopher is a native of Harvey, Illinois and resides in the Chicago area.
