Student Music Organizations

The Henry and Leigh Bienen School of Music supports many student organizations. We encourage you to get involved.

Student Advisory Board

The Student Advisory Board is a student organization concerned with creating a community within the Bienen School of Music by promoting communication between students, between students and faculty, and between students and administration. This organization is composed of students at any degree level within the university.

Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia (Iota Chapter) (iotasinfonia.org)

Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia is the men's music fraternity. Sinfonians range from the most serious conservatory musician to the most amateur musician with a lot of room in between. Membership is not dependent on a preference for any particular musical form or genre, or any level of proficiency or study. If you are interested in music, learning about it, performing it, or sharing it with others, you are a good candidate to be a Sinfonian.

Sigma Alpha Iota (groups.northwestern.edu/sai)

Sigma Alpha Iota was organized in 1903 to form chapters of women college students and alumnae who have a sincere interest in music. As of February 2008, our membership includes over 107,900 initiated members, 212 active college chapters, and 120 alumnae chapters throughout the United States. Beta chapter at Northwestern is dedicated to bringing musical women in any field and from any major together through musicales, social events, philanthropies and quarterly recitals.
