Programs open only to music students

A study abroad adviser can help choose a general program that includes music courses or one of the above programs specifically for music. Options to study abroad and take music courses include traditional music in Ghana, Senegal, or India or popular music in Chile or Argentina. Set up an appointment with a study abroad adviser to learn more about these programs.

Credit for private lessons abroad will only be accepted toward the Northwestern degree if approval from the applied lesson instructor in the Bienen School is obtained. Students should consult with the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs for courses that may substitute for music major requirements. In some cases, the approval of the program coordinator will also be necessary. Students should research the descriptions of the classes they plan to take abroad to confirm with the assistant dean that the classes correspond with requirements at Northwestern.
